Overview
SUBMISSION FOR AWARDS ENTRIES ARE CLOSED! Categories are for Best Programming, Best Talent, Best Promotion & Marketing and Best Station. All categories will be rewarded with the specially created Indian Excellence in Radio Awards (ERA) trophy. The results for ERA will be announced during the awards ceremony at the Taj Lands End Hotel, Mumbai after the India Radio Forum.

P1   Best Programme/Show (Hindi)
This category is designed for breakfast shows that deserve particular recognition for their high standard, originality, professionalism and innovation. Entries from weekday or weekend shows are eligible to enter.
The show must be predominately broadcast (more than 50%) in Hindi.
The entry should include a MAXIMUM 20-minute sampler of the programme with up to 3 unedited examples of the show separated by a 2 second gap in-between each examples. Begin each entry mentioning the Category Number and the Entry Name. Submit on CD Rom in .mp3 format. Also include 3 pictures of the show crew in jpeg format

 

P2   Best Programme/Show (Tamil)

P6   Best Programme/Show (English)
This category is designed for breakfast shows that deserve particular recognition for their high standard, originality, professionalism and innovation. Entries from weekday or weekend breakfast shows are eligible to enter.

P7   Most Innovative Show
This category is designed to reward programmes that have broken the mould, attempted a new approach and pushed boundaries. The judges will be looking for creative and innovative solutions and ideas that delivered results.
The entry should include a MAXIMUM 20-minute sampler of the programme with up to 3 unedited examples of the show separated by a 2 second gap in-between each examples. Begin each entry mentioning the Category Number and the Entry Name. Submit on CD Rom in .mp3 format. Also include 3 pictures of the show crew in jpeg format

 

P8   Best Interactive Idea
This category seeks to recognise a new idea for on-air interaction where the listener is significantly involved in providing the editorial content to a radio programme. This could be through phone calls, e-mails, text messaging, debate or correspondence.
The entry should include a MAXIMUM 20-minute sampler of the programme with up to 3 unedited examples of the show separated by a 2 second gap in-between each examples. Begin each entry mentioning the Category Number and the Entry Name. Submit on CD Rom in .mp3 format. Also include 3 pictures of the show crew in jpeg format

 

P9   Best Community Service Award
This category is for any social action initiative, campaign, programme or series through which radio has been used to affect the listening public in a positive way. The judges will be looking to recognise compelling, powerful programming with an impact that may have been made in fundraising, heightening public awareness & understanding of an issue, or in inspiring change in a community.
The entry should include a MAXIMUM 20-minute sampler of the programme with up to 3 unedited examples of the show separated by a 2 second gap in-between each examples. Begin each entry mentioning the Category Number and the Entry Name. Submit on CD Rom in .mp3 format. Also include 3 pictures of the team and/or campaign in jpeg format

T10   RJ of the Year (Hindi)
This category is for a Hindi speaking radio DJ /presenter who deserves particular recognition for their overall presentation style, use of music and rapport with their audience.

M22  Best Music Based Promo – Single Spot
Using either specially commissioned or library music this category will reward the spot that has used an innovative approach and made music the central part of the spot.

M23   Best Use of Advertising
Most effective use of ONE of the following: Print, TV, Direct Mail or Outdoor. Describing the aims of the campaign in 400 characters or less.
Mount all entries on a black poster board (35 x 50 cm), showing the single item/element of the advertising.

 

M24   Best Cross-Platform Communication Campaign
Most effective use of at least THREE of the following: Print, TV, Direct Mail, Internet or Outdoor. Describing the aims of the campaign in 400 characters or less.
Mount all entries on a black poster board (35 x 50 cm), showing the single item of each element of the campaign.

    M25   Best FM Brand
This award recognises the station that has created an impact in terms of entertainment, communication strategies and CSR activities in the past 12 months. Entries should include programme clips, campaign artwork and press cuttings and releases.
Stations qualifying for this category will need to submit the following:
1.

A station's resume of less than 1000 words, describing the station's brand and philosophies. It must also include:
- Major programming, promotional and charity ventures in the past year
- Audience involvement and promotion

2.

Press releases/promotional material/press cuttings or other relevant material to reinforce the claims. (Up to 5 items in jpeg & pdf formats ONLY).

    M26   Excellence in Communication
This award is for the station that has conducted the most unique innovative campaign in the past 12 months. The campaign should effectively communicate its messages using out-of-the box methods, captivating its audience, ultimately leading to a higher message recall and greater response and participation. Stations qualifying for this category will need to submit the following:
1.

Send a write up of the campaign's marketing objectives, highlighting the use of media platforms, audience statistics.  (Write up must be less than 1000 words)

2. Campaign artwork (up to 5 items)
3.

Press releases/promotional material/press cuttings or other relevant material to reinforce the claims. (Up to 5 items in jpeg & pdf formats ONLY).

    M27   Excellence in New Media Initiative
This award acknowledges the station that has made the most use out of technology in innovative ways. It recognises the person or persons who have been responsible for executing programmes or activities using new media platforms, such as the Internet and mobile phones. Stations qualifying for this category will need to submit the following:
1.

A station's resume of less than 1000 words, describing the station's brand and philosophies. It must also include:
- Major programming, promotional and charity ventures in the past year
- Audience involvement and promotion

2.

Press releases/promotional material/press cuttings or other relevant material to reinforce the claims. (Up to 5 items in jpeg & pdf formats ONLY).

    M28   Best On Ground/Activation by an FM Station
This award recognises a station's skills in creating and implementing an on ground activity that is integrated with the on air product as well (not a standalone onground event). The entries will be judged based on the concept of the onground activity, the station's ability to create relevant hype around the onground activity and the kind of integration with the on air product. Conceptualisation of on ground activity must be done in house. Stations qualifying for this category will need to submit the following:
1.

A 1000-word write-up on the on ground activity, outlining its objectives, target audience and including relevant  audience statistics

Station Category   S29   Best New Launch
To be eligible for this category the station must have been first launched between 1 March 2007 and 29 February 2008. Stations qualifying for this category will need to submit the following:
1.

One disc to be a compilation of at least 4 examples (maximum total duration of 30 mins) to include the station’s best output during the entry qualification period.

2.

Send a resume of the station of up to 1,500 words which include the following:

  • Highlights of launch strategy including examples of marketing, launch events and positioning statements
  • The station’s aim, objectives & programming policy.
  • Major programming, promotional, charity & community ventures
  • Any programming of which you are particularly proud.
  • Audience involvement & promotion: how the station reaches & serves its audience.
  • Special considerations or hurdles encountered in fulfilling remit (e.g. niche market, slender resources etc) and how these were overcome; major local events, major schedule/name changes and new competitors.)
  • New and original approach.
3. Press releases/promotional material/press cuttings or other relevant material to reinforce the claims to be Best New Launch (up to 5 items in .mp3, jpeg & pdf formats ONLY).

AWARDS TERMS & CONDITION

In the event that any individual category attracts fewer than the minimum number of entries the organiser reserves the right to withdraw that category. In this event the participating companies will receive a credit towards future entry fees. No cash refund will be given.

Note: All relevant permissions and copyrights are assumed to be cleared by the entrant. All entrants agree that award entries may be used at the discretion of India Radio Forum for educational and/or promotional purposes without further reference to the submitting company. Full credit will be given.
